“Understanding Where Contamination Comes from and the Effect on Reliability”
There are many points within the PCB, component, and assembly manufacturing processes that can, and do, introduce contamination. It is vital to understand where these points are to better determine how to investigate and eliminate the opportunities for introduction. Not every step of these processes carries the same number of opportunities but they all can have a negative impact on the reliability of your product. Along with knowing the introduction points it is also important to know how to test for conductive residues both in new product development and failure analysis. This presentation will cover where different types of contamination originates, how to test for it, and most importantly how to mitigate it and increase product reliability.
